maggiehazen.com
With over a decade of experience as a fine artist, creative director, and nonprofit founder, I start and form projects across diverse visual platforms. My network spans award-winning creatives, musicians, incarcerated artists, emerging talents, major institutions, small nonprofits, and social justice organizations.
With a background in sculpture and digital media, my work traverses design, filmmaking, animation, interactive media, digital fabrication, fine art, and curatorial practice. I hold an MFA in Sculpture from RISD and have taught and mentored students at Bard College, NYU, Stevens Institute of Technology, and the Shanghai Institute for Visual Art.
For over six years, I’ve collaborated on community-based art and design projects with incarcerated individuals, deepening my commitment to socially engaged creative work.

PHILOSOPHY
In a practice built upon exploratory sampling from many different mediums my creative process is rooted in playful collaboration. I braid together new worlds by carefully considering the treatment of materials in order to cultivate new systems and strategies that build communities and cultures of peace.
Since 2019, I have been collaborating with and building artist communities at the Brookwood Secure Center, Shwangunk Correctional, the Columbia Secure Center for Girls and founded the non-profit , the Juvenile Justice Arts & Media Network (JJAMN).
